John Carl Mahlum
September 28th, 1953 - July 15th, 2020
John Carl Mahlum, born in Grand Forks, ND, passed away at the age of 66 on July 15, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his three sons Jared, Trevor, and Michael; his five grandchildren, Nautica, Lucas, Spencer, Jace, and Ella.
He lived for the moment, never fretting about the future. He gave everything for his boys, ensuring their happiness in hockey, water skiing, and all Idaho’s many outdoor activities. Work (the “Spa Doc”), hockey, and scuba diving were his passions in life. He was a self-made man, self-employed answering only to his prescribed employees “Me, Myself, and I”. He coached youth hockey in Idaho Falls for nearly 25 years, aided in directing the program, and spent tireless hours sharpening the skates of Idaho Falls’ youth.
