Joyce Byrne

April 2nd, 1920 - March 7th, 2018

Lila Joyce Squires Byrne passed away March 7, 2018, from causes incident to age. She was surrounded by her family at the Gardens of Rigby, Idaho. Joyce was born April 2, 1920, to Laurence and Minnie Squires at the home of her Grandpa and Grandma Young in Archer, Idaho. She lived in Idaho until age of three and then spent the next 10 years in California, which she loved. High school years were spent at Madison High in Rexburg, Idaho.

She met her future husband, Ross Byrne, on the canal between the Squires and Byrne farms. They were married Dec. 21, 1939. She was active in the LDS ward they lived in, teaching Sunday school and Beehives, but her favorite calling was serving as meeting house librarian for 20 years.

Joyce and Ross were parents of Laurence (Marilee) Byrne of Italy, TX, JoAnn (Jerry) Cramer of Rigby, ID, Louise Twitchell of Rexburg, ID, and Marie (Bob) Shaffer of Mackay, ID. Joyce had 13 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and 3 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff at the Gardens of Rigby.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, at the Sunnydell Ward Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
