Marc RC Swanson

Marc Roger Cleveland Swanson 57 of Billings, MT passed away from a long battle of cancer on Wednesday May 28, 2025, at his home. He was born December 17, 1967, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Fred Swanson and Phyllis Thornton.

Marc grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho attending Bonneville High School. Marc left the area to work construction in various parts of the country including Montana, Washington, Arizona and Neveda. Marc also lived and worked for a time in Wyoming. Eventually, making his home in Billings, Montana with wife Sandy Hatch and their two dogs Loki & Kanobi. Before the cancer left Marc unable to work, he was employed by Billings Hardware. Marc loved hunting for sheds in the mountains, making very unique custom knives from the sheds he found, visiting thrift shops, and spending time with his family and many friends he made at every turn. He had what we like to call “Grocery Store Charm”.

Marc is survived by his wife and most loving care giver Sandy Hatch. Sons Nick Swanson North Bend, Oregon and Derek Brown (Kira) Seattle, Washington. Eight grandchildren, Mother Phyllis Thornton, Billings, Montana. Sisters Brandi Day (Kevin)Idaho Falls, Idaho, Mikki Thornton, Billings, Montana. Good friends Kevin (the brother he always wanted), Jenette, Cheyenne, Chance, Ray, Nathan & Nick. Along with all the good friends he made at Billings Hardware and in Billings.

Marc is preceded in death by his father Fred Swanson, paternal and maternal grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 21, 2025, at 1:00p.m. at 1177 Stillwater River Road. Nye MT 59061
