SHARON ROSE WINTERSTEIN (HERING) September 12, 1942-September 27, 2025.

Sharon Winterstein, 83, of Idaho Falls, ID passed away peacefully at home after a very short battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Sharon was born to John and Helen Hering in Aloha, Oregon. Sept 12, 1942.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Dawn Hern (James) of Castle Rock, CO; Son, Scott Finck of Idaho Falls ID; daughter Danae Hights (Brian) of Salt Lake, UT; son Don Winterstein of Idaho Falls, ID; brother Bud Hering of Gresham OR; as well as six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Jonn and Helen Hering; stepfather Del Potter; sister, Vilot Pearson; husband of more than 50 years Lee Winterstein; son, Mark Banks; son, Lance Banks.

There was not a craft that she could not do. She enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting. It was no matter the occasion; heck she didn’t need an occasion as anyone who knew her has something in their home that she created. Sharon donated to many charities. It may have been a few dollars here and there each month or hats she crocheted for the cancer children in the hospital.

Sharon and Lee moved from Vancouver WA to Dubois Wy in 2001, where they lived along the Wind River. It was a bit too remote for them, so they moved to Idaho Falls, ID shortly after. Here they were close to their son Scott whom she loved.

Sharon worked for The Shilo Hotel up to a month before her death. It was the running joke that she retired five times, but we all knew that it kept her busy after losing her sons and husband back in 2020. We are very Thankful to her Shilo family of 18 years.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to stjude.org. or The Cancer Society.

We will be laying our mother, grandmother, and sister to rest in Jackson, WY in the Spring, as well as a memorial back home in WA. If anyone would like details on this, they can email her daughter Danae at hightsdanae@gmail.com
