State rankings hold as Rockland and Malad retain top spots as postseason races heat up

Rockland and Malad continue to hold their respective No. 1 slots in this week’s girls basketball state media poll.

Rockland tallied five of eight first-place votes to top Genesee in 1A, while Malad earned all eight first-place votes in 3A.

No District 5 or 6 teams made the top 5 in 6A.

Pocatello was picked second again behind Middleton by four points in 5A, while Skyline moved up two spots to No. 3 after three straight conference wins, including a 64-55 victory over No. 5 Blackfoot.

Despite a 17-0 record, Sugar-Salem is still No. 2 in 4A behind Timberlake. The Diggers are followed by South Fremont, Bear Lake, and Teton.

Ririe (No. 4 in 3A), and Butte County (No. 5 in 2A) remain steady.
