State poll features Preston and Rockland in top spots as district tournaments heat up

IDAHO FALLS — Rockland in 1A and Preston in 5A retained their No. 1 rankings in this week’s boys basketball state media poll.

The Indians were a unanimous pick with eight first-place votes to outdistance No. 2 Hillcrest by nine points.

Rockland and Watersprings each split with four first-place votes in 1A, but the Bulldogs tallied more overall points 35-33.

Madison held at No. 2 in 6A behind Owyhee.

Eastern Idaho teams continued to line up behind 4A No. 1 Bonners Ferry, with Snake River, Sugar-Salem, Teton and American Falls rounding out the top 5.

Firth moved up a spot to No. 3 in 3A behind Declo and West Side.

Butte County remained No. 3 in 2A.
