Sugar-Salem, Malad continue to hold top spots in final state media poll

IDAHO FALLS — The final girls basketball state media poll of the season saw little movement this week as Sugar Salem (4A) and Malad (3A) unanimously retained their top spots.

District 6 teams Rigby and Madison received votes in 6A, but did not crack the top five.

Pocatello stayed No. 2 behind Middleton in 5A while Blackfoot and Skyline remained fourth and fifth, respectively.

The unbeaten Diggers earned all 10 first-place votes in 4A with South Fremont holding at No. 2 and Bear Lake at No. 3.

Malad retained the No. 1 spot in 3A, with Ririe jumping back into the top five with six points.

In 2A, Butte County was back in the rankings at No. 5.

Rockland stayed No. 2 in the 1A poll, while Leadore slipped a spot to No. 4.

District tournaments conclude this week with state tournaments slated to start Feb. 20.
