REXBURG — The Madison Bobcats bested the Highland Rams, 16-9, at Highland High School to claim a 6A District 4-5-6 championship and the right to host the inaugural state tournament super-regional round.

Madison will host East Qualifier as the tournament’s No. 11 seed, welcoming Rocky Mountain (No. 3) and Mountain View (No. 5).

Each play-in series will be double-elimination.

In the 6A, 5A and 3A classifications, the highest seed will receive a first-round bye. The two lower seeds will face off, in “game one,” with the winner then taking on the high-seed in “game two.” “Game three” will pit the losers of games one and two against each other — the loser of which will be eliminated with the winner advancing to face the winner of game two in the championship round.

Because the series is double-elimination, the winner of game three will need to beat the winner of game two twice in order to claim the series.

Here is a complete rundown of District 5-6 action.

6A

Madison will face Mountain View at 1 p.m., Friday, at Madison Jr. High School. Rocky Mountain will take on the winner at 4 p.m. the same day.

Highland (No. 9) will face Lake City (No. 7) at 1 p.m., Friday, at Lake City High School. Coeur d’Alene (No. 4) awaits the winner, with the second Friday game set for 4 p.m.

5A

Skyline (No. 7) will face Jerome (No. 11) in round one of the 5A south qualifier series, at Ingram Field in Twin Falls, with first pitch set for 3 p.m., Friday. Twin Falls (No. 2) will welcome the winner at 5 p.m.

Pocatello (No. 12) gets Mountain Home (No. 8) in round one of the east series at Bonneville High School, with the game scheduled to start at 1 p.m., Friday. The host Bees (No. 1) challenge the winner at 4 p.m.

4A

Marsh Valley (No. 4) hosts Payette (No. 6) in the southeast series at Marsh Valley High School. Game 1 is set for 5 p.m., Friday, with Game 2 scheduled to start at noon on Saturday. If necessary, a third game will be played Saturday.

The 4A classification will feature just two teams in each bracket, playing a best-of-three series with the winner advancing and the loser eliminated.

Sugar-Salem (No. 5) will host higher-seeded Homedale (No. 3) at Sugar-Salem Jr. High School. Game 1 of that series is scheduled for first pitch at 4 p.m., with Game 2 coming at 11 a.m., Saturday. An if-necessary Game 3 will be played at 1 p.m., Saturday.

3A

North Fremont (No. 12) draws New Plymouth (No. 8) in the first round, Friday, with host Orofino (No. 1) waiting in the second round the same day. Times for the 3A games have yet to be announced.

Firth (No. 7) will face Challis-Mackay (No. 10) in the first round at Firth High School, Friday. Nampa Christian (No. 3) gets the winner of that game, also Friday.

Malad (No. 5) gets Parma (No. 9) in round one, with Grangeville (No. 4) earning the bye. That bracket will be played at Malad High School, with the first games set for Friday.
