IDAHO FALLS — Local jump rope team Proform Airborne is inviting the community to a high-energy fundraiser show on June 14 to help support its journey to the World Championships in Kawasaki, Japan, this summer.

The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Black Canyon Middle School (4949 1st Street) in Idaho Falls. Tickets are $7 for adults (ages 12 and over), $5 for children (ages 3 to 11), or $30 for families of six. Tickets will be sold at the door and are for presale here.

The evening will kick off with a “Jump With Us” activity from 6 to 6:30 p.m., where children can jump alongside the athletes. A guest group of “showbiz entertainers” will perform from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by a performance from the Proform Airborne team from 7 to 8 p.m. Attendees can also enjoy concessions, a raffle, a photo booth, and buy jump ropes and other merchandise to support the team.

“We just hope that people will come watch these kids,” said assistant coach Brita Lindstrom. “They really do deserve a lot of hype. They have put years and years into it!”

The fundraiser supports 21 young athletes from Idaho who have been selected as part of Team USA at the World Jump Rope Championships, held from July 27 to Aug. 3 in Kawasaki. The team qualified during a national competition in North Carolina earlier this year.

Managed by head coach Monica Foster and assistant coach Lindstrom, Proform Airborne trains athletes ages 12 to 25 in a wide range of jump rope disciplines. The gym also offers programs for children as young as preschoolers. This year, all 21 members of the elite team earned spots to compete internationally.

The elite athletes practice rigorously throughout the year, with their training season running from September to July. During the summer, practices increase to four to five days a week, totaling up to 15 hours weekly.

“It’s pretty awesome that this little team in Idaho is taking a team to Japan,” said Lindstrom.
