Blackfoot’s Emma McGuire, Bonneville’s Gracie Longhurst top 5A District 6 honors

EASTERN IDAHO — The top two 5A teams in District 6 shared all-conference honors as Blackfoot catcher Emma McGuire and Bonneville pitcher Gracie Longhurst were named Co-Players of the Year.

Longhurst, a sophomore, pitched in 26 games and finished with nine wins and a 2.37 earned run average for the Bees while striking out 246 batters in 145 innings. She also hit .455 and knocked in 23 runs.

McGuire hit .446 and hit nine homers and tallied 44 RBIs while helping lead the Broncos to the district title. Blackfoot finished 10-0 in conference, 25-6 overall, and earned a berth in the state tournament.

Bonneville (17-12, 5-5) advanced to the state play-in game, eventually falling to No. 1 seed Pocatello 7-6.
