BOISE – If the Rollie Lane wrestling tournament is indeed an early-season precursor to where individuals and teams rank among their peers, then eastern Idaho should be well represented when the state tournament rolls around.

The Thunder Ridge girls won the 25th annual Rollie Lane team title with 196 points and four area boys and four girls earned individual titles.

On the boys side, the 120-pound finals was a battle of unbeatens as Brand’n Edstrom of Madison held held off Greysen Packer of South Fremont 7-6.

Sawyer Anderson of Highland won the 132 title to remain unbeaten on the season at 22-0, and Nathan Gugelman II rolled through the tournament to win his second Rollie Lane title and improved to 24-0.

Malad junior Drake Morrison won the 157-pound title with an impressive 19-5 major decision over Madison’s James Hensen.

Overall, 23 area boys medaled.

Madison tied for third behind Gonzaga Prep and Meridian with 148.5 points in the team standings and American Falls placed ninth.

On the girls side, 21 area wrestlers placed in the top eight.

Thunder Ridge did not have an individual champion, but seven Titan girls earned spots on the podium.

Kinzie Williams of American Falls improved to 21-0 with a 15-0 tech fall of previously unbeaten Hadley Gunderson of Burns.

Century’s Kyler Scott (18-0) also remained unbeaten with a second-round pin of Rocky Mountain’s Elyse Asaro to win the 130 title.

Two-time state champion Keanna Conrad of Blackfoot won the 135 championship and Molly Olague of Skyline (13-0) won the 170 title with a pin of Oakley’s Sarah Toribau.

Idaho Falls finished ninth in the team race, which included more than 90 girls teams.
