POCATELLO – Rigby dominated the Highland Golden Baton Relays and Invitational meet at Highland on Saturday, with the Rigby boys scoring 127 points to outdistance Highland at 78.5.

The Rigby girls finished with 158 points to outdistance Highland with 83.

Here are some highlights from the meet:

Boys

-Owen Golding of Rigby beat defending 5A state champion Zyan Crockett in the 100 with a time of 10.97.

Crockett, who has signed to play football at Idaho State, clocked 10.95 at last year’s 6A state championships.

Golding ran 10.94 earlier this season at Canyon Ridge.

-Rigby’s Jonas Porter won the 1,600 and teammate Vincent Kisner finished third.

-Highland 6A state champion Spencer Van Orden won the 300 hurdles in 38.17. The senior, who has signed with Texas Tech, also anchored the Rams’ 4×200 relay team to a win.

-The Rigby team of Cru Christensen, Cannon Korth, Brody Stosich, and Owen Golding won the 4×100, holding of Highland.

Rigby also won the 4×800 relay.

-Rigby senior Brayden Maughan, the defending 6A state champion, won the discus by nearly five feet.

-Another state champion, Jack Larson of Sugar-Salem, won the high jump at 6-4.

-Rigby finished 1-2 in the pole vault with Jarom Christensen clearing 14-0 for the win, and Chandler Hulse clearing 13-0.

-Cannon Korth of Rigby just edged Marsh Valley’s Jaxon Smith in the long jump with a mark of 21-10.75 to Smith’s 21-10.5.

-Jacob Dungan of Rigby won the triple jump at 42-6.25.

Girls

-Sophomore Abigail Sondag of Thunder Ridge clocked a personal-best time of 12.08 to win the 100 and has won all five 100-meter races this season, to go along with two 200-meter wins.

-Titan teammate Ashlynn Richardson, who placed sixth at last year’s state meet as a freshman, won the 400 in 58.43.

-Two of the area’s top cross-country runners squared off in the 1,600, with Bella Spencer of West Jefferson holding off Klarisa Earl of Thunder Ridge 5:22.36 to 5:23.07.

Spencer has won all three of her 1,600 races this season.

-Leigh Ellis of Highland edged Lydia Townsend of Marsh Valley in the 300 hurdles by 16/100 of a second.

-Townsend, two-time state champion in the pole vault, did win her best event, clearing 12-6 for the win. She’s topped 12 feet in all three of her meets this season.

She also finished fourth in the long jump at 17-2.75.

-Blackfoot’s Eva Grimm hit 139-4 in the discus to set a personal-best mark.

-It was the Weatherlys of Hillcrest finishing 1-2 in the javelin, with senior Alexa Weatherly throwing 128-2 and freshman Elyn Weatherly finishing at 106-1.

Alexa finished second at state last season with a mark of 117-10.

-Raleigh Hill of Rigby won the high jump at 5-4.

-While Townsend of Marsh Valley won the pole vault by a foot, Rigby vaulters finished in the next four spots, with Lizzy Poston (11-6), Lilly Poston (11-0), Kaylei Kelley (11-0) and Gracie West (11-0) showing the Trojans’ depth in the event.

-Sugar-Salem’s Sorelle Clark won the state title in the long jump as a freshman and hasn’t slowed down, setting a season-best mark of 17-11.75 to win on Saturday.

-Blackfoot’s Lauren Christiansen, the defending state champion in the triple jump, set a personal-best in the event with a leap of 36-8.5.
