Bonneville coach Cortland Hengel steps down after consecutive state tournament runs

Bonneville boys basketball coach Cortland Hengel announced on Instagram that he is stepping down from the program.

“After much thought and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step down as the Varsity Head Boys Basketball Coach at Bonneville High School.

Coaching this program these past two seasons has been one of the greatest journeys of my life, and I am incredibly grateful for the support from those within the Bonneville community. It’s time I chose to do what’s best for my family and return home. Thank you for these past two years.”

Hengel was named 5A District 6 Coach of the Year after leading Bonneville to its first district title since 2014 and a berth in the 5A state tournament for the second straight season.
