EASTERN IDAHO — Behind Blackfoot High School’s first-ever state softball trophy this season was a pair of All-State performers and the 5A Coach of the Year.
Catcher Emma McGuire led all 5A hitters with 15 homers. Her 50 RBIs and 1.156 slugging percentage also put the sophomore among the top performers in state. McGuire can now add the top individual honor to her team runner-up finish at the state tournament, as she has been named the 5A All-State Player of the Year.
Bronco head coach Tammy Sorensen has been named 5A All-State Coach of the Year, while one Bonneville Bee, one Pocatello Thunder and two Hillcrest Knights have been named First-Team All-State selections.
East Idaho Sports softball Player of the Year, Blackfoot’s Brianna Reynolds, joins another Thunder, another Bee and one player each from the Skyline Grizzlies and Shelley Russets on the Second-Team All-State roster.
All-State rosters are voted on by each classification’s coaches and compiled by the Idaho Statesman.
