Chukars post record-setting offensive performance in win

IDAHO FALLS — Tyler Wyatt had a pretty good week Saturday night, collecting five hits, four runs scored and seven RBIs. But he wasn’t even the most productive hitter in the Chukars’ lineup during a record-setting explosion.
Justin Trimble finished with five hits, four runs scored and eight RBIs as Idaho Falls (7-4, 22-37) beat the Great Falls Voyagers (3-8, 21-38) 40-18.
The Chuakrs’ 40 runs set a Pioneer Baseball League record for most runs scored in a game. The 58 combined runs scored were also a PBL single-game record.
Idaho Falls batted around in the first, third, fourth and sixth, led by Trimble, Wyatt, Casey Vaughan, Sam Canton and Parker Lester, each of whom drove in five or more runs.
All nine Chukar started posted multi-hit games, with four scoring at least five times — Tye Dooley (5), Lester (5), Emilio Barrera (5) and Vaughan (6).
Vaughan, Canton, Wyatt, Trimble and Parker all homered — Trimble and Lester did so twice.
Starter Seth Spencer fell one out shy of the required 5 complete innings needed to earn the win, which went to Quentin Graves (W, 1-0, 12.89 ERA), who allowed three runs in his 1-1/3 innings.
Seth Spencer (ND, 3-3, 8.31 ERA) went into the fifth inning with his club leading 29-6, but his 10 walks and 128 pitches forced his removal before he could get that 15th out.
The Chukars will look to finish a three-game sweep and 5-1 homestand Sunday, when they face the Voyagers in a matinee. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
