District tournament updates: Semifinals set, defending 4A champ Sugar-Salem waits

EASTERN IDAHO – The journey to the state girls soccer tournaments is underway as teams battle in their respective district tournaments.
Here’s an update on District 6 competition with titles and state berths on the line.
6A
No. 1 seed Highland moved into Thursday’s District 5-6 championship game with a 3-0 win over Thunder Ridge.
The Rams will host No. 3 Rigby for the auto berth to the state tournament.
No. 4 Thunder Ridge plays at Madison on Thursday in an elimination game.
The winner of that game plays the loser of Thursday’s Highland vs. Rigby game, with that winner advancing to a play-in game.

The top four seeds in the District 5-6 tournament all advanced to Thursday’s semifinals.
No. 1 Hillcrest downed Blackfoot 13-1 and will host No. 4 Idaho Falls at 4 p.m.
No. 2 Skyline beat Century 10-0, setting up a semifinal Thursday against No. 3 Pocatello, a 9-1 winner over Bonneville.
That game is 4 p.m. at Ravsten Stadium.
The championship game is Saturday. The runner-up game would be played Tuesday, with the winner earning the conference’s second berth to the state tournament.
