Perkins leads Bear Lake to victory with career-best performance

MONTPELIER — The Bear Lake Bears ended a two-game slide Friday with a lopsided victory over the Wendell Trojans.

Led by junior quarterback Dax Perkins, the Bears (4-2, 0-0) beat Wendell (0-6) 51-14.

Perkins completed 17 of 23 pass attempts for 331 yards and five touchdowns, finishing the game with a 155.3 quarterback rating and earning the East Idaho Sports District 5 Athlete of the Week.

Through six games, Perkins has thrown for 1,277 yards, ninth-most in the state. After not throwing for a touchdown in Bear Lake’s two losses, Perkins’ season total now sits at 12, following the five-score performance.

The Bears open their conference schedule this week when they visit the American Falls Beavers (3-3, 0-0). They last appeared in the state tournament in 2023 and had won two games combined across the past two seasons.
