POCATELLO — Teams from across the state were in attendance Thursday for the Bob Conley Invitational cross-country meet at the Portneuf Wellness Complex.

With 674 runners entered in four varsity races, four local student-athletes broke the tape. The individual success, however, did not translate into team dominance, with Preston and Rigby the only two teams to claim the podium’s top spot.

Skyline, with a team score of 164, finished third in the boys’ varsity A race, won by Rigby with 103 points. Century finished fifth with 195 points.

The Diamondbacks had two individual racers finish in the top three, including senior Ammon Britton, who won the race with a time of 15:11.7. His teammate, Ethan Hansen, finished third with his 15:42.6.

Highland senior Makenzie Tucker won the girls’ varsity A race with a time of 18:59.5. Thunder Ridge senior Klarisa Earl crossed the finish line fifth, with a time of 19:37.0.

Tucker’s top time helped the Rams finish fifth as a team, with a score of 174. Rigby came in third with 124 points, behind the winning team, Rocky Mountain, who scored 67 with all of its top five finishers coming in the top 27 out of 133 entrants.

Preston won the girls’ varsity B race with a score of 71, just good enough to edge out Snake River’s 77. Malad, with a 105, came in third, while Sugar-Salem’s 139 saw them finish fourth.

Individually, it was Soda Springs freshman Anna Uskoski who finished first, with a time of 19:16.2. Snake River’s Paetyn Polatis (19:45.0) and Preston’s Taryn Campbell (19:52.1) finished third and fourth, respectively.

The boys’ varsity B race was won by Nampa Christian with 99 total points. Malad, led by individual winner Jace Nalder (16:28.1), came in second with 110. Preston (158) and Marsh Valley (197) rounded out the top five at fourth and fifth.

Nalder was joined by Ririe’s Cody Baxter — 3rd with a 16:54.1 — and Soda Springs’ Reuben Uskoski — 4th with a 17:04.6 — in the top five.
