EASTERN IDAHO — With the state wrestling tournament now just a week away, district meets have arrived across the region, and the Pocatello Thunder won the 5A District 5 meet.

With a team score of 267.5, the Thunder topped Preston and Century, hosting the district championship and keeping the trophy at Pocatello High School.

Other boys’ district champions crowned this week include the Snake River Panthers, from 4A D5, the Sugar-Salem Diggers, from 4A D6, the Malad Dragons, from 3A D5, and Ririe, from 3A D6.

At Marsh Valley High School, the American Falls Beavers claimed the 4A duals title, with 14 boys qualifying for next week’s state meet and four more in the hunt for wild-card berths. Snake River, though, was crowned district champions, with 20 wrestlers qualifying for state.
