Around the Horn: Preston remains unbeaten, Skyline remains atop the 5A District 6 standings

EASTERN IDAHO – Conference play is starting to heat up as teams jockey for early position in the standings.
Preston in 4A and North Fremont in 3A, remain unbeaten overall.
Here’s the action from Wednesday.
Skyline 10, Idaho Falls 7
The Grizzlies scored four runs in the fourth inning and made it stand up.
Brylee Scott hit a double and two triples and Traeley Schwartz homered for Skyline.
Amaya Castaneda homered for the Tigers.
Skyline (9-2, 2-0) leads the 5A District 6 conference.
Idaho Falls dropped to 3-8, 0-2.
Shelley 6, Hillcrest 5
The Knights rallied late but it wasn’t enough in the 5A District 6 matchup.
Shelley (5-3, 1-1) scored five runs in the fourth and Macie Winder finished 2 for 4 with four RBIs.
Mya Weatherly finished 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored for Hillcrest (7-3, 1-1).
North Fremont 12, Firth 10
The Huskies (4-0, 3-0) held off the Cougars, who scored four runs in the first and then six in the bottom of the sixth, but it wasn’t enough in the Nuclear Conference game.
Lexi Peeples doubled and tripled for North Fremont and Oakley Hathaway knocked in four runs.
Linlee Telford, Madelyn Erickson and Kieleigh Bales each finished with two RBIs for Firth (4-8, 1-1).
American Falls 20, Marsh Valley 3
The Beavers (5-5, 2-1) finished with 17 hits in just four innings, with Kayla Mendez belting two homers and Jersey Sprague also hitting a home run.
Mendez finished with six RBIs and also picked up the win in the circle.
Mckelle East finished with two RBIs for Marsh Valley (4-9, 0-2).
Preston 8, Snake River 3
Ellie Keller knocked in three runs and Brielle Briggs homered for Preston, which remained unbeaten on the season at 9-0 and 2-0 in the South East Idaho Conference.
Neiley Mangum tripled for the Panthers (1-10, 0-3).
