IDAHO FALLS — The Idaho Falls Chukars scored double-digit runs for a fourth consecutive game Thursday night, resulting in a 15-12 road victory over the Boise Hawks.
The Chukars (28-17, 43-50) have won all four games, with three of those wins coming against the Hawks (25-20, 48-45).
Led by big games from Tyler Wyatt, Justin Trimble and Ryan Lee, Idaho Falls increased its season run total to 1,026 — they remain the only team in the Pioneer Baseball League to have scored 1,000 runs this season.
Lee, with four hits, including two homers, drove in three runs and scored three more.
Trimble finished the game with two runs and two RBIs on four hits, including his 35th homer of the season, surpassing Sam Canton (34) for a new franchise single-season record.
Wyatt went 3-for-6 with a homer, a run scored and four RBIs. With an RBI single in the first inning, Wyatt extended his PBL-record hitting streak to 47 games.
For the first time this week, the Chukars’ starter did not finish 5 innings.
Mason Pennington (ND, 4-1, 9.21 ERA) lasted just 3-2/3 innings, surrendering 11 hits and 10 runs, eight earned.
Five relievers held the Hawks to two runs across the final 5-1/3 frames. Ryan Inouye (W, 5-2, 5.51 ERA) earned the decision after recording four outs without allowing a run.
The Chukars enter the final weekend of the season looking to sweep the Hawks. They have already turned their season around, having won 28 games in the second half after finishing the first half with just 15 victories.
