Preston to host American Falls for 4A South East Idaho Conference crown

PRESTON — The American Falls Beavers will visit Preston Friday with the conference title on the line.
Preston (3-4, 2-0) has won three consecutive games, jumping back into a playoff race they looked all but eliminated from after starting the season 0-4.
They are led by senior quarterback Carter Perry, who averages 213 passing yards and 103.6 yards rushing. He has thrown for 13 touchdowns and run for 10 more.
American Falls (5-3, 2-0) started the season with a pair of wins but has gone 3-3 since.
The Beavers are paced by the one-two running back punch of senior Onyx Kunsaitis and junior Thorne Rose. Rose has rushed for 550 yards (68.8 per game) thus far this season, while Kunsaitis has rushed for 437 yards (54.6). Both have scored five rushing touchdowns.
According to the MaxPreps rankings used for selecting at-large state bids and seeding the state tournament bracket, American Falls is the No. 10-ranked 4A team in the state. Preston is No. 11, meaning Friday’s loser, no matter which team it is, could still earn a tournament berth. But both are far from a lock for one of the seven at-large bids up for grabs, so a win is the only guarantee.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Preston High School.
