Spud Kings drop second-straight game to Grand Junction, trail 2-1 in playoff series

GRAND JUNCTION, Co. – The Grand Junction River Hawks scored three times in the second period and held on for a 3-2 win over the Spud Kings Friday night in Game 3 of the Mountain Division playoffs.
With the win, the River Hawks take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5 series.
Braden Cunningham scored in the first period for Idaho Falls, but Grand Junction responded with three goals within a three-minute span of the second.
Daniel Macleash scored for the Spud Kings in the third period to cut the deficit to 3-2, but Idaho Falls would get no closer.
The River Hawks outshot the Spud Kings with 42 shots on goal, 21 coming in the explosive second period.
The series continues Saturday at the River City Sports Plex in Grand Junction.
