ROCKLAND — Heading into his senior season, Zach Permann had spent three years playing a leading role in Rockland, helping the Bulldogs win 19 games across his three seasons as a starter.

Through two games this year, the 2025 First-Team All-State running back has taken his play to the next level. In Saturday’s 71-6 victory over the Dietrich Blue Devils (1-1), Permann took the first snap of the game 53 yards for a touchdown and quick advantage for the Bulldogs (2-0, 0-0).

While it was his only carry of the game, the long scoring run was far from Permann’s only contribution to the Bulldogs’ second one-sided victory in as many weeks. He finished the game with six catches for 160 and two receiving scores. Then he added a pick-six, giving him four touchdowns in the game.

For his complete performance, Permann is our selection for East Idaho Sports District 5 Athlete of the Week.

Permann has scored seven touchdowns already this season, including two defensive scores — one pick-six in each of Rockland’s wins. The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 137 to 14 combined in their two wins.

With an East Idaho Sports Game Ball from his team’s Week 2 win and and Athlete of the Week honor in tow, Permann will lead his Bulldogs back into battle this Friday when Rockland hosts the Challis Vikings (0-2, 0-0).
