EASTERN IDAHO — The Rigby Trojans maintained their stranglehold on the 6A District 6 top spot with a victory over the Rams at Highland High School, improving to 2-1 head to head against the district’s second-place club.

Challis-Mackay, North Fremont and South Fremont each also earned big conference victories, while Preston and Skyline won non-conference games and Madison outscored Century 32-8 in a doubleheader.

Here is what happened Tuesday on diamonds across eastern Idaho:

Rigby @ Highland

Senior Bentley Brower and junior Kadyn Hench picked up three hits apiece, leading the Trojans (10-9, 8-1) to a 7-6 road win over the Rams (8-10, 3-3). Brower added three runs scored out of his leadoff spot, and senior Joseph Madsen earned the decision, holding Highland to two hits and two runs, one earned, across 4 innings of work.

Rigby was led by senior Cooper Colonel, who drove in three runs.

West Jefferson @ Challis-Mackay

The Rivercats (6-10, 2-4) ended a short two-game slide with a 17-6 home victory over the Panthers (1-10, 0-5).

Carter Ivie and Isaac Andersen knocked in four runs each to lead the way for Challis-Mackay.

Firth @ North Fremont

The Huskies (7-7, 3-4) edged out the Cougars (9-5, 3-1) 5-3 in a pitchers’ duel.

Senior captain Benny Torres drove North Fremont to the victory, tossing a complete game with five hits and three runs allowed. Carter Stegelmeier, Reuger Lenz and Collin Patterson each knocked in a run in the win.

Teton @ South Fremont

The Cougars (15-5, 2-0) bounced back from a Saturday home loss against Marsh Valley, beating the Timberwolves (6-6, 1-1) 8-4.

Cy Hill tallied two RBIs in support of starter Jordan Hammond, who held Teton to seven hits and three runs in his 6 inning.

Teton’s Wyatt Moore did his best to match Hammond, holding South Fremont to two earned runs but was undone by five errors behind him and four unearned runs.

Malad @ Preston

Preston (9-6-1, 2-1) got three hits from Janson Hollingsworth and two RBIs from pitcher Levi Despain, who scattered 13 hits while allowing four earned runs, and five unearned, in a complete game win, beating Malad (11-4, 1-0) 10-9.

The Dragons were led by lead-off man Easton Green, who went 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

Century @ Madison DH

The Bobcats (9-11, 4-5) defended home field with an offensive eruption, scoring 14 runs in the first game of a doubleheader against the Diamondbacks (2-14, 1-2) and following that up with 18 more in the second.

Mace Mortenson went 4-for-3 with a run scored and four driven in to lead Madison in a 14-0 win.

Alex Ramos, Tyce Hodges and Treagen Orr all homered in the Bobcats’ 18-8 win in game two.

Pocatello @ Twin Falls

The Thunder (9-9, 0-0) recorded just one hit, a single from Parker Weinheimer, in a 10-0 five-inning mercy-rule loss to the Bruins (16-4) at Twin Falls High School.

Burley @ Skyline

The Grizzlies (10-9, 2-4) won in extras for the second time in four days, beating the Bobcats (11-4) 7-6 in eight innings.

Skyline was led by junior Hayden Nahay, who went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs in the win.
