Madison back in the 6A rankings while Blackfoot falls out of 5A after first loss

EASTERN IDAHO — Madison is in, Blackfoot is out.

This week’s state media football saw Madison move into the No. 4 spot in 6A after defeating previously ranked Mountain View and improve to 4-0.

Rigby, also 4-0, remained the unanimous No. 1.

Blackfoot fell from the unbeaten ranks with a loss at Twin Falls and dropped out of the 5A top-5 with Lewiston moving up.

Despite a big win over Star Valley (Wy), Sugar-Salem remained No. 3 in 4A, although just three points behind No. 2 Fruitland. Homedale, which beat the Diggers to open the season, overtook Fruitland for the No. 1 spot.

West Side remained the unanimous pick in 3A and improved to 4-0 with a win over Ririe.

In the 8-man polls, Butte County received votes in 2A, and Rockland continues to hold the No. 5 spot in 1A.
