Around the Horn: Bonneville, Rigby sweep doubleheaders behind hot bats

EASTERN IDAHO – It was an impressive pair of doubleheader sweeps on Monday as Rigby and Bonneville each continued their hot streaks.

Rigby 13, Madison 3; Rigby 18, Madison 3

The Trojans swept the conference doubleheader, putting up 26 hits and 31 runs.

Maggie Stowell homered and had three RBIs, while Sam Bishop, Ali Good and Evelyn Robins each knocked in two runs in Game 1.

Paige Ringel picked up the win, striking out six.

It was another fast start in Game 2 as Rigby scored five runs in the first and eight in the third.

Bishop finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs and four runs scored and Stowell was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Rigby (8-1, 2-0) ran its win streak to eight straight games. Madison (1-10, 0-2) has lost five straight.

Bonneville 16, Century 1; Bonneville 13, Century 1

The Bees have been averaging more than 10 runs per game and they added to that number with a nonconference sweep of the Diamondbacks.

Diana Peterson homered in the opener and Gracie Dennett (2.0 innings, five strikeouts), and Lila Coffman (3.0 innings, five strikeouts) combined on a two-hitter and did not allow an earned run.

Bonneville led early in Game 2 and put the game away with four runs in the fifth.

Catcher Paige Bourgeois finished 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs.

The Bees (8-4) have won seven of eight. Century (0-7) is still looking for its first win.
