Local Police Offer Tips to Fight Scammers

Last Thursday an Idaho Falls woman was allegedly raped by 18-year-old Akeem Thomas, a scammer from California. Before that, two separate incidents of burglary and theft landed another salesman behind bars. Police tell Local News 8 it’s becoming a major concern. “We don’t know their reputation, we don’t know their character, and people are letting them into their homes,” Idaho Falls police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said. “I think we are too trusting in this community. We have this close-knit neighbor mentality, and at times that can be a downfall to us.” If you see any suspicious activity, don’t hesitate to call in and report it.
