Huckabee Murder Suspect Killed in Shootout

SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1327350478726Courtesy Union County Sheriff’s Office(UNION COUNTY, Ark.) — A suspect in the murder of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee’s cousin and his cousin’s wife has been shot and killed in a shootout with police, officials said Monday.

Donald Hux, 36, killed his ex-wife, Amy Huckabee, and her current husband, Sandy Huckabee, who was a cousin of Mike Huckabee, the former 2008 presidential hopeful, police said. He is currently a host on Fox News Channel.

Hux, who recently spent time in jail for assault, had been sending his ex-wife threatening letters, the Siftings Herald reported.

Police said Hux broke into the Huckabees’ home in Arkadelphia, Ark., shortly after midnight on Sunday. He shot Sandy Huckabee in the head while he was sleeping. He then allegeldy kidnapped his ex-wife and the three children he shared with her and drove them 80 miles away to El Dorado, Ark., where he dropped the children off with his parents, police said.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office caught up with Hux late Sunday night. He killed Amy Huckabee and then fired at police. Hux died in the shootout.

Amy Huckabee was a special education teacher and Sandy Huckabee was a self-employed psychological examiner, according to their Facebook profiles.
