Nadal Wins, American Fish Loses At Australian Open

Phil Ellsworth/ESPN(MELBOURNE, Australia) — Rafael Nadal is on to the third round of the Australian Open after beating German Tommy Haas in straight sets. Roger Federer is also into the third round after his second round opponent, Andreas Beck of Germany, had to withdraw before the match with a back injury.
American Mardy Fish, seeded eighth in the tournament, was upset by Colombian Alejandro Falla in the second round. Fellow American John Isner did advance to the third round after beating David Nalbandian in a marathon match that lasted nearly five hours.
On the women’s side, top ranked Caroline Wozniacki and defending champion Kim Clijsters both advanced to the third round.
