(PHILADELPHIA) — Eagles head coach Andy Reid will be back in Philadelphia for his 14th season, chairman Jeffrey Lurie announced Tuesday.
The Birds came into the 2011 season with high expectations after winning the NFC East the previous year, but stumbled to a 1-4 record out of the gate. They closed the season winning four straight games to give them an 8-8 record, but they failed to qualify for the playoffs.
“Andy Reid to me not only has the love of his players and their respect, but he also has the fire in his belly to be the best,” Lurie said. “That’s why I want to see our team coached by Andy Reid next year.”
In 13 seasons in Philadelphia, Reid has led the Eagles to nine playoff appearances, six NFC East titles, five NFC championship games and an appearance in Super Bowl 39.
