Irving Puts On A Show in Rising Stars Game
Published at(ORLANDO, Fla.) — The NBA All-Star weekend kicked off in style on Friday night with the BBVA Rising Stars game.
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving was 8 for 8 from the three-point line and finished with 34 points, taking home the MVP trophy in Team Chuck’s 146-133 victory over Team Shaq.
“You know, it’s kind of unfortunate that it comes in the All-Star game,” Irving said. “These stats don’t carry over into the season. But at the end of the day, it was still fun to get out there with those talented guys. So it was a great experience.”
New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin played only nine minutes in the game and scored two points.
“I’m definitely surprised the people are still talking about ‘Linsanity’ or whatever,” Lin said. “Hopefully as the season progresses it will go from that to the New York Knicks. Hopefully the Knicks can win basketball games and we can make a good push after the All-Star break and people will start talking about the Knicks and not necessarily me.”
