Lakers Have Players-Only Meeting
(NEW YORK) -- After the Los Angeles Lakers' 103-92 win over the Portland Trail Blazers Monday night, players decided to hold a players only meeting minutes after the victory, according to team sources.
With trade rumors surrounding Lakers' forward Pau Gasol, both Derek Fisher and Kobe Bryant wanted to get the following message out to the rest of the Lakers' clubhouse: no rumors or feelings matter, stay together and focused as a team and they will have a chance to get to the finals.
Kobe Bryant has voiced his frustration with Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak regarding the ongoing Gasol trade rumors, and Kupchak responded Tuesday.
"To say publicly that we would not do this would serve no purpose and put us at a competitive disadvantage," Kupchak said. "Taking such a course of action at this time would be a disservice to ownership, the team and our many fans."
