(MIAMI) — Free agent quarterback Alex Smith is meeting with the Miami Dolphins today.
Smith, who led the 49ers back into the playoffs in 2011, is now looking out for himself since the club worked out free agent quarterback Peyton Manning last week.
Both Smith and Manning are represented by agent Tom Condon and CAA Sports.
“This is the NFL. I guess nothing surprises me anymore,” Smith told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Sunday. “I never thought a year ago (Peyton) Manning would be a free agent either. I’m never surprised by anything.”
San Francisco was 13-3 with Smith last year who earned $4.9 million in base salary in 2011 and earned a $1 million bonus for reaching the playoffs.
Smith was on the same high school football team with current Dolphins running back Reggie Bush.
