(PHILADELPHIA) — The Philadelphia Eagles have placed the franchise tag on wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
In four seasons in the City of Brotherly Love, Jackson has 229 receptions along with 4,085 yards and 21 touchdowns.
“We want DeSean to be an Eagle for the long haul and this is a step in the right direction to accomplish that,” general manager Howie Roseman said. “DeSean is a talented player and a proven playmaker in this league and we look forward to him continuing his career in Philadelphia.”
The 25-year-old Jackson was schedule to become a free agent on March 13th. If both sides are unable to agree to a long-term deal, Jackson will receive a one-year contract worth $9.4 million.
