(NEW YORK) — Quarterback Drew Stanton made it a week as a Jet. After signing a one-year deal last Friday to be the Jets backup quarterback, Stanton has been traded to the Colts.
Stanton asked to be traded or released once the Jets traded for quarterback Tim Tebow.
Stanton was promised the backup job behind quarterback Mark Sanchez, but Jets general manager Mike Tannenbum publicly declared Tebow the backup when he joined the team, upsetting Stanton.
After the trade was announced, Stanton’s agent Deryk Gilmore tweeted, “Excited for the #Colts to get @drewstanton a leader, winner, and QB not a gimmick to sell tickets.”
The tweet was taken down shortly after and Gilmore posted a new tweet that said, “Jets are a class organization for doing the right thing.”
