Panthers Agree To Extension With Steve Smith

Chris Graythen/Getty Images(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) -- The Carolina Panthers have agreed to a three-year contract extension with wide receiver Steve Smith. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Working with rookie quarterback Cam Newton, the five-time Pro Bowler had a bounce-back year in 2011 with 79 receptions for 1,394 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Panthers drafted Smith out of Utah in the third round of the 2001 NFL draft. During his 11 seasons in Charlotte, Smith has complied 699 receptions for 10,278 yards and 59 touchdowns.

He is the Panthers' all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards.
