Veteran House Democrat Announces Retirement
Published at(WASHINGTON) — Rep. Edolphus Towns, D-New York, announced Monday that he is not seeking a 16th term in Congress.
Towns is the former chairman of the powerful Oversight and Government Reform committee and he is a former chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Towns becomes the fifteenth House Democrat to retire at the end of this cycle rather than face re-election. Ten Republicans have also decided not to run again.
