Avenger’s Grosses $80.5 Million on Friday, 2nd Biggest Film
(NEW YORK) -- Walt Disney Co.'s "Marvel's The Avengers" became the second-biggest grossing film in box-office history on Friday, bringing in $80.5 million in Canada and the United States, Bloomberg reports.
Analysts expect the film, which features the Hulk, Thor and Iron Man, to earn between $150 million and $170 million, Bloomberg says. Time Warner Inc.'s "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" holds the record for highest grossing sales in a single-day, having brought in $91.1 million, according to Hollywood.com, Bloomberg says.
"The Avengers" had already earned $304 million outside of Canada and the United States before Friday, Disney told Bloomberg in an email statement. Stars such as Scarlett Johansson, Roberty Downey Jr. and Jeremy Renner make up the cast. The film also received a rare CinemaScore of A+, a grade given by theater goers as they leave the film, according to Bloomberg.
