Big East Changing Men’s College Basketball Tournament Format
Published at(PONTE VERDE BEACH, Fla) — The Big East men’s basketball tournament is undergoing a makeover. Starting in the 2013-2014 season, the then 18-team league will create a play-in game between the two lowest-seeded teams.
The play-in games would be played on the Monday of the tournament, at a site that has yet to be determined.
All coaches were in favor of every team get into the tournament.
“They’ve been in support of this for a couple of years,” associate commissioner Dan Gavitt said. “As our membership grows, this is a great opportunity to change our format.”
