Exit Polls: French Socialist Leader Hollande Beats Incumbent Sarkozy
AFP PHOTO/JEFF PACHOUD/ERIC FEFERBERG(NEW YORK) -- Exit polls in France say that Socialist leader Francois Hollande is the projected winner in France's runoff presidential election against incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy.
Partial official results show Hollande beating Sarkozy by 51.9 percent to 48 percent, making it the first time an incumbent president has been kicked out of office since 1981 and the first time a Socialist president took office sinece 1995.
