(NEW YORK) — New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler, who signed with New York as a free agent after the lockout ended, will be named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Last season, without Chandler, the Knicks gave up 106.5 points per game. This year, that number has been slashed to 97.8 points per game. Chandler averaged just under 10 rebounds and nearly one-and-a-half blocks per game this season.
The Knicks are currently trailing the Miami Heat 2-0 in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
Game three is Thursday in New York.
