George Doyle/Thinkstock(PHILADELPHIA) — Monsignor William Lynn is the first U.S. church official convicted for how he handled child sexual abuse claims. The verdict was read Friday. The jury found Lynn guilty of failing to protect children from alleged molestation by priests. The Catholic monsignor was acquitted on two other charges.

Jury Foreman Isa Logan is a non-denominational deacon, and he says, “We did our job. I’m glad that we were able to just do what the judge told us to do which was go by the law, and not by your feelings; not by your background.”
