(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) — NASCAR suspended driver Kurt Busch Monday for one week for verbally abusing a reporter.
NASCAR said Busch violated the terms of his probation when he made abusive comments to Sporting News reporter Bob Pockrass following Saturday’s Nationwide race. Pockrass asked the 2004 Cup champion if being on probation has impacted the way he races.
“It refrains me from not beating the (expletive) out of you right now because you asked me stupid questions. But since I’m on probation, I suppose that’s improper to say as well.”
NASCAR placed Busch on probation last month for reckless driving on pit road as well as a post-race altercation with a crew member from Ryan Newman’s team. His probation runs through July 25.
