(OAKLAND, Calif.) — Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz hit his 400th career home run during the Sox 3-2 loss to the Oakland Athletics Thursday.
Ortiz becomes the 49th player in MLB history to hit 400.
“I know at some point in my career when I’m not playing baseball, I’ll look at it from the outside and be like woah…guess I had a good career,” Ortiz said when talking about the milestone hit. “To look at it right now, it’s just another home run that you put out there.”
Ortiz had been stuck at 399 since July 27. He now has 22 home runs for the season.
