(NEW YORK) — With the free agent departure of wide receiver Vincent Jackson during the offseason, the San Diego Chargers are looking for a player to step up and replace his production. Unfortunately for Vincent Brown, he won’t get that chance as he suffered a broken ankle on Saturday night.
Brown will be sidelined for at least eight weeks after breaking his ankle during the team’s preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. The 23-year old Brown suffered the injury while landing awkwardly pulling down an 18-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter and was carted off the field soon after.
“I think we’re equipped to be able to handle whatever comes our way and we’ll have guys step up and fill his shoes,” Chargers head coach Norv Turner said.
Brown is entering his second season in the NFL and with the Chargers. In his rookie season, Browns caught 19 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns.
