(LONDON) — The United States women’s soccer team defeated Canada on Monday, 4-3 behind Alex Morgan’s go-ahead goal in the final minute of extra time.
Morgan scored the game-winner when she sent the ball over the head of Canadian goalkeeper Erin McLeod.
The U.S. will play Japan in the gold medal round Thursday. It will be a redemption game for the Americans, who lost to the Japanese in the finals of the 2011 World Cup.
The U.S. has won the gold medal three times since women’s soccer was introduced in Atlanta in 1996.
