NBA Via Washington Wizards(WASHINGTON D.C) — Washington Wizards star point guard is expected to miss eight weeks of play with a stress injury in his right knee, the team announced Friday afternoon.

Wall was experiencing pain and discomfort in his right knee while getting ready for Wizards’ training camp.  An MRI revealed the early stages of a non-traumatic stress injury to that leg.

Surgery will not be required and Wall is expected to return to action in late November.

“My teammates and I are all excited to build on the improvement we made at the end of last season, and I know they will continue to make great progress while I get through this setback,” Wall said. “I will work extremely hard to make sure I get back as soon as possible so I can re-join them and help our team continue to improve.”

He is expected to miss roughly the first 15 games of the 2012-2013 regular season.

The third-year pro has career averages of 16.3 points per game, 8.2 assists, and 4.6 rebounds.  He was selected No.1 overall by the Wizards in the 2010 NBA Draft.
