Alex Trautwig/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — New York Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey picked up his 20th win of the season on Thursday afternoon at Citi Field.

Dickey recorded 13 strikeouts, tying his career high and becoming the sixth pitcher in franchise history to reach 20 wins, as the Mets (72-84) beat the Pirates (76-80), 6-5.  Dickey pitched 7 2/3 innings, giving up only three runs.

A night after becoming the Mets all-time hits leader, David Wright gave the team the lead with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Mets up, 6-3.  Jon Rauch came in to close the game out but allowed a two-run shot by Alex Presley. Bobby Parnell closed the door in the ninth.

The knuckleballer Dickey joins elite company in Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, David Cone, Dwight Gooden, and Frank Viola as the only other Mets to record 20 wins in a season.
