President Obama told an Orlando hip-hop station Monday morning that he wasn’t sure whether to believe Nicki was being serious when she rhymed, “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy b*****s is f*****g up the economy.”  Obviously hip to Nicki’s music, Obama noted that the YMCMB star “likes to play different characters, so I don’t know what’s going on there.”

The president was referring to the fact that Minaj is known for adopting off-beat alter-egos as part of her act.  Among her alter-egos is the brash and British-sounding Roman Zolanski, who’s popped up on several Minaj tracks.

And it turns out, the president had the right idea.  Nicki was certainly impressed, tweeting, “Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do… *sends love & support*”

In addition to giving Mr. Obama props, Nicki added, “Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question.”

Many people wondered whether Nicki was endorsing Romney when she rapped about him on Lil Wayne’s recently released Dedication 4 mixtape.  Whatever the case, Obama said when it comes to celebrities he tends to pay less attention to any ribbing they give him.  “The truth is when it comes to music and movies, et cetera, Michelle and I just focus on who’s good,” Obama concluded. “Look, I love Clint Eastwood movies, man.”
